"A person who doesn't breathe deeply reduces the life of his body. If he doesn't move freely, he restricts the life of his body. If he doesn't feel fully, he narrows the life of his body. And if his self-expression is constricted, he limits the life of his body."
-Alexander Lowen
Working with clients to relieve chronic pain and old injuries is one of my greatest joys. I won't promise that I can fix you but what I can promise is that I will truly listen with my ears, eyes, and hands. I will work with you in a holistic way treating the sum of you rather than just parts.
Here's a good analogy to how I often work with people in pain:
Imagine your driving on the freeway and suddenly you encounter a slow down. Brake lights flashing and cars coming up on your tail. Soon traffic comes to a stand still and you're stuck. You feel frustrated and stressed but you know there's no maneuvering you can do to get around the cars in front of you and get to your destination. Only the people in the helicopter can see that 3 miles up the road there is an over-turned tractor trailer and until the police and wreckers finish clearing the mess you're surely going to be stuck.
When working with the body it is often helpful to have someone access your whole structure and make a strategic plan rather than only focusing on just the site of pain. As a Structural Integrator I can often see not just one area of stress and strain but multiple others that you're likely unaware of.
In each session I will work with you to figure out what isn't sliding and gliding and use myo-fascial release combined with small and simple movements to help open up these areas and bring in new awareness. You may be given simple corrective exercises to be done at home as well.
Coming to our group SMARTCore classes is often a good first step and is always suggested in conjunction with Structural Integration.
Some conditions I've had success with so far:
